We have spent many happy years cycling as a family ever since the girls were old enough to have child seats on the back of our bikes! More recently, I have completed the London to Brighton bike ride 3 times with Elise & Sophie.  So, when the girls asked me if I would be up for a London to Paris bike ride, I felt I would have to give it a go!  I also decided that I couldn't take on this huge challenge without raising some money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a charity very close to my heart, as I have had my own personal challenge of successfully battling with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I have been training hard for this 250 mile ride and will definitely give it my best shot!

"The oldest rider in the team and really should know better than trying to relive his youth by accepting this challenge. I should have learned my lesson after trekking in the Himalayas with Joe a few years ago but couldn't resist the invitation to cycle to Paris, especially once it was decided to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. However, I'm sure that I will echo Sir Steve Redgrave's words should I be standing under the Eiffel Tower on 7th October, "If anyone sees me on a bike again, they have my permission to shoot me!" As a postscript, please note Joe that any future challenge that I undertake with you should be no more arduous than 100 laps of a lazy river at an exotic beach resort."

Having spent the last couple of years challenging myself in UK adventures I thought I'd push the boat out and go that little bit further with a cycle ride across the pond. I am hoping for flat country roads, French wineries aplenty and hot summery weather however choosing to do this challenge in October means the chances are unlikely. Instead it should be a tough slog but for a great cause so am excited and raring to go!

After walking from coast to coast last year (80 miles in 48hours) I thought I'd had enough of challenges for a while, yet I find myself taking on another tough one! This one, however, has much more of a purpose  than doing something crazy "for fun", it's about raising money for a brilliant charity. I'm a little worried though as in training, Mum has managed to beat both myself and Soph up the zig zag so I'm not sure that we're going to be able to keep up with her!

As the youngest member of the gang I have been struggling to cycle without stablisers and all the vehicles seem to give me a wide berth. However I am starting to learn to cycle all by myself and I think its paying off. When practising the other day I sidnt fall off once! I was very proud. Jokes aside I am very proud to be doing this cycle for a charity very to my mums heart. I hope I do her proud.
